A revisit to the poet W.H.Auden I discovered that we have a few things in common; he and I were both born in England, grew up in Birmingham, and spent some years in America. The central themes of his poetry are similar to that of my blog, i.e. subjects of love, God, morals, and the relationship between unique human beings
and the anonymous, impersonal world of nature (my fish dying and so on). Auden's friends from his Oxford years described him as
being funny, extravagant, sympathetic, generous, and, partly by his own
choice, lonely.
